    HISTORY OF   CRICKET

Cricket was a popular sport in 13th century in england during the reign of KING EDWARD I. The first official match of cricket was between kent and middlesex in 1719.

 

 The rules of cricket were formed in 1744. Cricket was intriduced to India by european merchant soldiers in 18th century.   
 

LATEST RULES OF    CRICKET


# Two teams of 11 players play  alternately on the elliptical field.

#A series of bowls (minimum 6 bowls) is called an over.

3 formats of cricket matches are:

#Test matches=It is a 5 day match. In these 5 days, everyday 90 overs can be bowled only.

#ODI'S=It is a one day match in which 50 overs can be bowled. The rule 'Power Play' has been added to one day matches. After adding this rule,there are fielding restrictions which can help to put pressure on the batsman by placing close fielding.

#Twenty20=It is a 20 over match. This game has to be completed between 3 hours.

Sizes of bat , ball and stumps:

#Size of a bat=The overall length of a bat  is 38 inches (96.5 cm).
The length of the bottom (horizontally) is 4.5 inches (10.8cm)

#Size of a ball= The actual cicumference of a ball is 9inches(22.9cm)





#Size Of stumps
= Length of stumps is 28 inches(71.1 cm) and breadth is 9inches(22.8cm)













EQUPMENTS:

The main equipments are made for batsman and a wicket-keeper. Different equipments are shown in the figure shown below๐Ÿ‘‡

# Players in a team=11+5(extra)=16

#No. Of umpires = 2+1 (third umpire)

#Weight of a cricket ball=5 ounces(156 g)

#Circumference of a ball=9 inches(21.8 cm)

#Colour of a ball=
 Red (in test matches)/ white(in odi's, t20 ,etc..)

#Length of a bat =38 inches (96.5 cm)

#Widest part of  bat =10.8 cm

#Breadth of a pitch=
10 feet (3.05 cm)

#Shape of a ground =
Elliptical

#Distance between
stumps=66 feet (22 yard)

#Height of stumps= 28

FUNDAMENTAL SKILLS OF CRICKET

#Batting stance= Bat   is held with both hands . The right handed batsman places his bat near his/her little fingure of right foot and left batsman places the bat near the little fingure of  left foot.

#Front foot defence=
In this , the batsman takes one foot ahead , the body weight is transfered to the front foot along with his bat.

#Back foot defence= In this ,a batsman takes his/her back foot little bit back and also transfere his weight to the back foot along with his/her bat.

#Fielding skills= Catching (high catches,flat catches, slip catches , etc..),throwing ball 
towards stumps from different angles must be good .

#Wicket-keeping=
Controlling the ball at the back ,stumping, catching, collection of ball from a fielder ,etc.. Must be good.


All must practise physical exercise to stay fit.....
